Content:
Romantic mood and resignation characterize this novella-like film, in which Death has grown weary of his duty and almost longs to be “defeated” by the young girl. Equally impressive is the entire “main plot”: the scene in the romantically winding German town with its sometimes eccentric characters, and the scene in the majestically gloomy hall of the lights of life.
