In brief:
The General is a 1926 action-comedy film by and starring Buster Keaton. Set during the American Civil War, it’s based on the true historical event of the Andrews Raid on April 12, 1862. Locomotive engineer Johnny Gray single-handedly pursues his stolen locomotive, The General, abducted by Northern spies. Through persistence, daring stunts, and ingenuity, he manages to reclaim both his engine and the affection of his beloved Annabelle Lee. The General is considered one of the greatest comedies in film history.
