Plot:

“The General” is a 1926 action-comedy film by and starring Buster Keaton. The film is set during the American Civil War and is based on the historically documented Andrews Raid of April 12, 1862. The locomotive engineer Johnnie Gray embarks alone on a pursuit to rescue his locomotive, The General, which has been captured by Union spies. With persistence, daring maneuvers, and ingenuity, he manages to recover both his locomotive and the love of his sweetheart Annabelle Lee. The General is considered one of the most important comedies in film history.
