Synopsis:
“The General” is an action-comedy film from 1926, directed by and starring Buster Keaton. Set during the American Civil War, it is based on the historically documented Andrews Raid of April 12, 1862. Locomotive engineer Johnnie Gray single-handedly pursues his stolen train, the “General,” which has been taken by Union spies. With persistence, daring maneuvers, and inventiveness, he manages to recapture both his engine and the affection of his beloved Annabelle Lee. The General is considered one of the greatest comedies in film history.
