In Brief:

The film depicts a working-class family in St. Petersburg during the revolutionary year of 1905. There are family tensions between the alcohol-dependent father and his son, Wlassow, as they are politically on opposing sides. Son Pawel hides firearms in the house and prepares a strike within the workers’ movement, while the father is against the revolutionaries.
