The first German science fiction film featuring extraterrestrials
In brief: Robert Herne is a coal miner. One day, while working in the mine, he encounters an alien from the planet Algol. The being gives him the secret of the “Algol waves” and a machine capable of converting these cosmic waves into energy. Herne suddenly possesses an inexhaustible power source. Recognizing the opportunity of a lifetime, he uses the machine to supply energy to the entire world — rapidly gaining power and influence across the globe.
Musical Arrangement: New score by Wilfried Kaets for cinema organ, simultaneous piano, and sound playback.
The music is structurally inspired by the dramaturgical style of the silent film era, but is a modern composition. It reflects a sonic dialogue between 20th and 21st-century musical elements, aligning with the theme of “encountering the unknown.”
