In brief: The film is based on the novel about the London serial killer “Jack the Ripper” by Marie Belloc Lowndes.
A psychopathic murderer is terrifying London: every Tuesday, he selects a blonde victim, and each time the police find a note next to the body, signed „The Avenger.“ The police have just discovered the seventh blonde woman murdered by this “Avenger.” Around the same time, a mysterious man rents a room with a family — and shows a special interest in Daisy, the landlords’ young blonde daughter. When another murder occurs close by, the hunt for the killer begins…
Version: New score for piano and sound playback by Wilfried Kaets.
The music draws structurally from silent film scoring traditions of the 1920s, partly incorporating themes from historical film music libraries. However, it is largely a new composition. This creates a compelling balance between “old visuals” and “new sounds” that doesn’t merely contrast with the film but weaves together into a dramaturgically cohesive experience.
